Talk about having some gusto! This partially feathered baby bird fell out of it's nest during one of our recent storms and got injured. We found her in the evening... too late to take her to a rescue place. Even after we cleaned the blood off of her face and got her into a nice, warm environment, she wasn't looking too good. But she made it through the night and we managed to get some food down her a couple of times during the day - not an easy task! Not to mention how careful you have to be so you don't hurt the bird. We were finally able to get ahold of a volunteer at East Valley Wildlife who could care for the bird. We drove her over to her new (temporary) home, where she will stay until she is old enough to be released back into the wild.
Odds were stacked against her, but we could see her growing stronger after each feeding. Her new caretaker was optimistic that she would heal up and thrive.
