About Steven J Begay:

Navajo artist Steven J Begay made lots of pieces for the Trading Post. His passing was a great loss to the art community. His wife Kari will continue the tradition of overlay Begay jewelry. Steven's cross pendants were very popular and a favorite with our buyers, and this one is filled with that stunning Begay style. You can wear this heavy silver pendant from a nice tight rope sterling chain for a fabulous Southwest look, or this size makes a great gift for that special person who appreciates authentic handmade Navajo silver. He works in gold and silver overlay jewelry since 1975. In 1996, he won a highly coveted first place ribbon in the prestigious Santa Fe Indian Market for a concho belt as well as a Best of Category award for a squash blossom necklace. Steven's work is distinguished by clean, uncluttered designs that appear contemporary yet are traditional in that he uses only the highest quality turquoise set in heavy gauge silver. He has won many awards for his work and his jewelry is shown at finer Native American galleries in New Mexico and Arizona.
